Who We Are
Better Build LLC is a father-and-son partnership formed to acquire and operate one independent collision repair shop. We're not a private equity rollup or a holding company looking to consolidate a market — we're family, planning to run this business ourselves, in person, for the long term. We want a shop we can be proud to pass down, not flip.
Operating Partner — Father
30+ years hands-on in collision and auto body repair. Will run the shop floor, lead technicians, and oversee quality control from day one of ownership.
Managing Partner — Son
Background in business administration, systems, and technology. Handles financials, compliance, and modern shop management software so his father can stay focused on the floor.
This is a family investment, not an institutional one. The plan isn't to grow fast and sell — it's to keep the shop running well for years, under family ownership, with the same people who already make it work.
The Man Behind the Work
Jozef Hornik arrived in the United States from Slovakia with no money, no connections, and no safety net — only a work ethic sharpened since boyhood and a belief that hard work in America could build something lasting. He found his way into a collision shop, picked up a spray gun, and never looked back.
The photos above were taken in the early years of his career — a young immigrant learning the trade from the ground up, one panel, one repair, one honest day's work at a time. Over the following three decades he mastered every corner of the craft: metalwork, bodywork, paint, and the quiet pride that comes from handing a customer back a car that looks better than it did before the accident.
That history is not a footnote — it is the foundation. When Jozef walks into a shop, he has seen and done it all. Sellers can trust that the man taking over their floor knows exactly what he is stepping into.
